Deep Water Plants

"Deep-Water Plants" are grown with about 1 foot or more of water above their crowns, although most will grow in water more than twice this depth. Water lilies are the best known deep water aquatics. It is important to select suitable varieties of water lily (Nymphaea) for the size of your pond. Some of the most vigorous ones are suitable only for lakes and very large ponds, while others are miniatures, suitable for water features in sinks and tubs. Other deep water aquatics include plants such as the water hawthorn (Aponogeton distachyos) and small species such as the water buttercup (Ranunculus aquatilis), which is best suited to large wildlife ponds. A reputable Landscaping Contractor or plant supplier is a valuable source when searching for suitable plants.
